Etna and wine Tourism: an iconic region

Riding the wave of the recent Vinitaly, a 56th edition that celebrated Italian wine and the diversity of expressions it represents, it is interesting to revisit the growing importance of wine tourism.

From the Veronafiere premises, a study was presented showing how significant the wine sector is in terms of GDP, demonstrating an economic weight equivalent to all Italian sports, including football. Signed by the Uiv-Vinitaly Observatory, the dossier: “If you take wine away from Italy. A dive into the half-empty glass” is an economic impact analysis commissioned to Prometeia with a focus from the Uiv-Vinitaly Observatory on three iconic wine-producing regions: Barolo, Montalcino, and Etna.

The highest active volcano in Europe resonates nationally and internationally in terms of “iconicity,” becoming a textbook case for its landscape, cultural, social, and economic importance. The reasoning behind this territorial choice is clear: Etna is an integral place, endowed with uniqueness and various specificities that characterize it in every aspect. This is a motivation that increasingly drives tourists and wine tourists to visit its trails and wineries.

The quality of hospitality and the offerings attract visitors from all over the world, an opportunity that also pushes “Terrazze dell’Etna” to focus on this chance for meeting, exchange, and experience.

Do you already know our accommodations? Rooms and apartments immersed in the privacy of the estate, in close contact with the volcano and the naturalistic and spiritual atmosphere it emanates. Our wines are the common thread that connects everything: we offer our guests exclusive tastings to discover the best of a legend called Etna.
