How will the year 2024 be? Anticipations and forecasts for the wines of Etna that will arrive in our glasses
Sicilian wines and in particular the wines of Etna confirm the positive trend achieved in recent years. Some territories of the island have suffered from drought while on the volcano, the climate and the trend were quite regular. The harvest of Terrazze dell’Etna, in the North side, was challenging as always because the wineries of Etna are used to carry out manual harvests due to the roughness and the particular slopes in the vineyard.
The plants have had a good life cycle and the fruits, the clusters of red and white vines, have reached maturity with about a weekâs delay compared to previous years.
What to expect from the 2024 harvest?
The quality is currently very good: black berry Nerello Mascalese, Pinot Noir and white berry Petit Verdot and Carricante and Chardonnay were in excellent health. We have collected healthy grapes that make us predict a very interesting product. The year was rather hot with intense rains in spring, a condition that has released an amount more or less equal to the harvest 2022, although for us at Terrazze dell’Etna there is an increase in recorded on the total harvest thanks to 5,5 hectares acquired last year, an extension that will allow us to start new projects that we will tell you soon.
Is it a red or white wine vintage in Sicily?
Never as much as this year the answer is: red and white wines! For 2024 comes the famous virtuosity of Etna, the vocation of the volcano of return wines of recognizable quality, identical and marked by the character of Etna. Among the labels of Sicilian wines that we recommend you to collect for 2024 there are definitely the wines from Terrazze dell’Etna which in this new vintage fully express the complexity of the terroir.
